Tremolos are fussy things at the=20 best of times, but they can be useful. I used to use an old strat for=20 certain stuff, and did a lot of fiddling with the tremolo. If you want to bend the strings without affecting others, remove the=20 back cover and check how many springs you have installed - if three (or=20 less) you can add a couple more (up to 5 IIRC), or tighten the screws=20 until the tremolo sits flat on the body. Either way you need to increase=20 the tension, but not too much as it will put undue stress on stuff.
