The "attack" part aside, I come in on the other side of this. When your just beginning getting your head around something, I think it's very useful to ask questions about the "landscape" of something. Yes, something like "how many 8-bit CPUs can I fit in X gates" is very vague. But even the equally vague answers have been quite enlightening. Answers like "several" and "you'll run out of memory first" give a definite feel for the subject. The old saying goes, when the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
