Re Battle of the Boyne in 1690

The English Protestant  King William (of Orange, since he was Dutch=20
really) had support from European Catholic Armies to defeat the English=20
Catholic King James.
William got a thanks from the the Pope. Irishmen backed both sides.

Ireland is more complicated than the IRA would suggest. Gerry Adams=20
found it harder to get elected to Irish Parliament than the UK one=20
(where he took the pay but would not take his seat). However Ian Paisley=20
for Irish President is unlikely, though the present President is from=20
N.I. and Born there (in UK) 1951, Graduated from University there in 1973.
