Same as in Spain - in some opinion there is no Spain, only Basque country, Catalonia, Andalusia, Galicia, Aragon etc but right now we only sa= y Spain for the entire region and as a country. Austro-Hungarian Empire also included many other countries, including Slovakia, part of Slovenia, Ukraine, Romania and Croatia. UK still includes (Unites...) many countries (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern-Ireland for the most obvious examples, but even America was part of it back in time before reached their sovereignty and built up US as we know today). Borders are always matter of internationally accepted facts (as opposed to claims of occupancy= ) and Soviet Union was accepted by pretty much everyone around the world as i= t was -- then many united countries reached their independence after the political change.
