Beautiful open sound Me too - I love the early Cream/Peter Green/Stones/Floyd sounds. Also=20 much US stuff such as Hendrix, Lynard Skynard (used to enjoy covering=20 Voodoo Chile and Freebird :-) ) and Neil Young. Early Blues influences=20 for me were Robert Johnson, Howlin Wolf, BB King, JL Hooker - plenty of=20 great stuff to learn there. I remember picking my favourite valve amp - I tried every one in the=20 shop and pretty much hated them all, then I plugged into an Orange AD30=20 and never looked back, wonderful amp. If you want that crunchy, thick,=20 bluesy tone, then you would be hard pushed to find a better amp. Not=20 very forgiving though, you can make it sound bad very easily.. :-) Getting back to electronics, I dug my little 16F690 dev board out and=20 wrote a little loop to test the strobe tuner out (thinking of maybe=20 making a little kit for our website) It works well - as predicted, firing the LEDs 180 degrees apart makes it=20 easier to see relative movement between the "two strings". I intend to=20 try to improve it a bit, and test out things like firing one at an=20 overtone frequency, or maybe using more LEDs (4 at 90 degrees?) I noticed "standard" red LEDs are not optimum, so I will try some ultra=20 bright white ones, with a tighter focus angle. --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
