I see a potential problem with the design as it stands: does the wind=20 direction update continuously while the wind is blowing? The=20 author's description makes it sound like the direction is latched=20 until the wind dies back down. However, I'd have to spend more time with this before being sure of=20 this. What I'd rather do is ask you how well your unit works and if=20 it keeps track of wind direction continuously.
