This message arrived at my desk well after I had gone home on Friday, but I=
 will still reply.

The news of the Japanese earthquake was widespread over all the media here =
in the UK by the time we were waking up. However it wasn't until I got to r=
ead the mornings Times newspaper later in the day that I came across a 2 co=
lumn inch item about a large earthquake in China, magnitude 5.something, wh=
ich had caused a fair amount of damage, but no information on just when, I =
think Thursday Chinese time. The news had been totally overshadowed by the =
Japanese quake.
