"know better" ought not to be confused with or conflated with "knows differently". Amongst consenting adults in the fishbowl privacy of a public once yer join it list, growed up people are quite at liberty to say eg 0.083 s. I'd personally almost certainly say 83 ms, because I find it easier BUT if you wanted maximum clarity for maximum readers then I'd hazard that 0.083 s has the edge. If you swim in a sea of m M k T ... all day long as many of us do, it's easy to miss appreciating what works for the majority of people. I realise that the elitist throng will have no truck with this perspecu\tive, and not only not care that the 'right" way is less easy for many to understand, but actually rejoice in the fact. So be it. But It pains not my brain a whit to deal with 0.083s, even though I'd not usually use such. If that causes you to immediately think of me in a different light it may or may not be a bad thing :-). Worse, I'll even actually avoid units of mF, with about the same alacrity that you use them, because of the confusion that it is liable to engender;: true in both cases probably :-).
