I'm dissapointed at the lack of response (no replies either on-list or=20 privately and only a handful of hits on the hg repo) :(. Did I make my=20 post look too much like an advert or something? From the replies phil got when he first spoke about this idea back in=20 2007 (how time flys) I thought there would be more interest. While I=20 described it as alpha that is mostly because some ancilary functions=20 such as datasheet storage, categorisation of parts and search (currently=20 I use the web browser to search which works but is far from ideal,=20 search is probablly next on my list of things to implement) haven't been=20 implemented yet and because we don't have any formal tests in place yet.=20 Don't worry about losing your data if the design changes. I'm using it=20 myself heavily so if parts of it get redesigned I will ensure there is a=20 data migration path. Feedback would be hugely appreciated. In particular i'm really not sure=20 how practical it is to hanlde categorisation of parts in a way that is=20 both useful and doesn't get in the way (one key feature of ISIS is it=20 needs to be easy and quick to enter new parts while entering a block of=20 stock coming in). I'm also not sure whether it is better to store=20 datasheets as BLOBs in the database or as seperate files. The former=20 keeps everything in one place and means there is no possibility of the=20 DB and the filesystem getting out of sync but it may also make database=20 dumps rather large. peter green wrote: > ISIS is a stock database designed for managing a stock of electronic=20 > components in an office, laboratory or warehouse.
