VS Environment is not bad even though I do not really use
them much (mostly I use MinGW/MSys and a text editor under
Windows for the simple programs I work with).

Mono is not bad actually. Of course I do not do much programming
and my experiences are limited to libusbdotnet. MonoDevelop
(Linux) and ShardDevelop (Windows) can be used for libusbdotnet
in stead of Visual Studio. libusbdotnet works under Mac OS X
as well but I do not have a Mac.
