I think it's more like a replacement for Firewire than for USB.

USB3.0 is a bit pointless, as USB2.0 is fine for all except fastest=20
Storage and USB3.0 is pointless for anything other than very very fast=20
storage. FCoE, eSATA and other storage interfaces though is a better=20
idea than USB3.0

So USB30 isn't going to replace USB 2.0
various Professional applications will use Thunderbolt instead of Firewire.
1G Ethernet, 10G fibre, FCoE and others for other applicatons.

Thunderbolt is   not "the new Apple interface" but a concept and chipset in=
tel want to sell to everyone.
