Greetings all, I'm repairing a friend's super-duper mega blender (brand name shall remain unmentioned to protect the guilty) whose variable speed pot has gotten flaky. It's a very thin design (the pot that is) but I think I can fit in a replacement. The ID markings aren't readable, and searches don't turn up anything that looks similar. One lug is cut off, making it just a variable pin and common. I measure 5k between the cut off lug and common, but the wiper has gotten so bad that it's really jumpy if touched or moved. That's the problem as it's used... Anyway, I can't get enough info to tell which type I should replace with. It seems to not be quite linear, but it jumps around so much and never does the same thing twice, so who knows. The question is, are there any designs that use or used an audio taper pot for triac (or maybe scr) speed control? The board is upside down and a little tricky to get at, so if one or the other is _always_ used, I'll just go with that. Anyone with countertop AC appliance motor control experience?? My concern is that they get the same relative speed progression up the dial, rather than the replacement making it very little change at first, then all of the variability crammed into the last bit of rotation of the dial or such. I also don't want to order something, tear it down, replace it, put it together, and find it's "not right". ;) Thanks.
