I asked this at the beginning of the thread, and the OP confirmed that
not only does the device not have brownout protection, the users run
its batteries until dead.  While this is the most likely cause of his
problem, this thread has probably convinced him that his problem can
be fixed in software.  Unfortunately, brownout can't be fixed in
software.
