Maybe I should have written "barely trained monkeys"... So that's a mil-spec circular from Amphenol, hmmm. We actually started several years ago with mil-spec circulars from AB and Glen-Air. You'd think these are rugged enough, but I've had nothing but headaches from them. Bent pins, pushed pins, broken mating rings, cable grip issues, backshell problems. It's easily my single biggest product warranty issue. Out of about 1000 we've used over the past few years, I've seen probably 20% come back for one reason or another. I've had the manufacturer's reps in here swearing up and down that nobody else has issues like this. I was recently talking to an ex-air force electronics tech that flatly contradicts that - one of his jobs used to be replacing those connectors after some other monkey got after them. Add to that cost ($50 -$100 US per connector, more if you need a backshell) and lead times (14 -20 weeks for Glen-Air, a little better for AB) - I'm about done with mil-spec circulars. -Denny --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
