Perhaps in this event you experienced a very noisy/glitchy power
restoration and the reset circuitry in the remote control board did
strange things.
 If there is a MCU in the remote receiver (very probably), the MCU may
have been abnormally brought out of reset and executed the wrong piece
of code.
