Several months ago, our power supplier in our semi-rural Northern Ohio=20 area went partial smart grid. We have the remote metering, but they did=20 not install the equipment to control our equipment. Recently we had a=20 brief outage due to a car colliding with a utility pole a mile away at 4=20 AM, on our loop (5 miles) that is 3 miles from the substation. Weather=20 not a factor. When I went out to get the paper at 7 AM, I found our=20 garage door open. It has RF remotes. There were reports of many other=20 garage doors open and lights on that was noticed by the paper carrier on=20 a motor route. Our remote is an older generation, maybe 15 years of age. I have reported the situation to our small rural electric supplier,=20 which claims nothing on their part could be cause. I have asked them to=20 research further. Does anyone have an explanation? :~) --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
