Hi All, Our small research group is looking at the feasibility of setting up a=20 local teleconferencing room, rather than having to work around the=20 booking times of the busy 'official' T/C center and the long hike to get=20 to the room. Most of the time we do 'seminar' style t/c with powerpoint, video,=20 whatever, from the presenters OWN computer, so an SXGA cable gets=20 plugged into a Telesys encoder and shipped off, along with an audience=20 camera/mic on both ends for questions. So basically two Audio/video=20 streams, one in each direction with local/remote switching for the=20 Computer display/live camera. If we are going to DIY, I think we would also want to add collaboration=20 ability, e.g. shared documents, whiteboards, etc. Looking around the web I see a few 'commercial' solutions (Cisco Webex,=20 Skype) with monthly fees, but nothing inexpensive (so far) that lets a=20 normal computer do two way full res video streams (specifically dual=20 head video card). Am I just not using the right search terms or what? I found big blue button (OSS) but it requires that you upload a=20 presentation in advance so that it can be rendered locally in flash. So that probably won't work with the many embedded videos that our users=20 seem to employ. Any pointers to a near zero budget (or at least non recurring costs)=20 solution that can use existing data projectors, computers, large screen=20 monitors and web cams, would be appreciated. Suggestions on what 'gotcha's to look out for would also be appreciated.
