Thanks for all the suggestions on finding/replacing an obsolete 256kx1 SRA= M for ongoing production. It is indeed an SOJ package. Mike's correct about redesign - the x8 chips are cheaper. But I have to fit the replacement par= t into a circuit that has separate DIn and Dout lines. I know this can be handled with additional logic but that's a bigger job than just changing a chip and it's pinout. If none of the gray market suppliers comes thru, I'm going with a 256kx4 Cypress part that's still in production, matches the existing control signals and timing but is very expensive. Once this batch of product gets into production, I'm going to redesign the whole thing sinc= e the product is several years old and I'm sure I can shrink it and make it a lot cheaper with parts available now.
