If I want to use USB just to charge a battery (no communications), can I just use pins 1 and 5 with the data pins open? I see at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Serial_Bus#Power "The Dedicated Charging Port shorts the D+ and D- pins with a resistance of at most 200 Ω. The short disables data transfer, but allows devices to detect the Dedicated Charging Port and allows very simple, high current chargers to be manufactured." This seems to indicate a short at the host and not the device. Am I reading this correctly? THANKS!
