No, the alternator converts mechanical power generated by the motor to =20
electricity.  If you draw more power from the alternator, you put more =20
mechanical load on the main engine and reduce milage.  There might be =20
some slight hybrid effect (the alternator would produce some power =20
when coasting or slowing down, even though you're not loading the =20
engine), but I'd be very surprised if it were significant.
