(i) Has anyone had experience with small solar panels using epoxy outer material, or PET or other plastic bonded to a PCB base using EVA adhesive. (ii) If so, have you experienced an increased number of faults in recent times. If you are a recent user, what sort of fault rate are you seeing. I may be seeing an occasional solar panel panel failure that has a cause that I've not seen previously. If I am correct this is caused by ongoing changes in crystalline silicon wafers and will probably affect many manufacturers who use this technology. This applies to many small solar panels under about 1 Watt capacity and some larger ones. PV panels likely to have this problem are those which use an outer layer of encapsulant such as epoxy, or use EVA adhesive to bond a plastic like PET or Acrylic or Polycarbonate to a PCB backing. This is less likely to affect traditional glass/EVA/silicon panels in the same way but these may have their own related issues. I cannot supply any more details at present. I am still investigating but may be able to. I may be able to comment later if I find anything useful. --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
