At a guess, someone in China woke up one morning and saw the light, and to=

him who saw the light decided that the light was his way to light up his=20
bank account and make a fast buck.  Along came a Kiwi offering the Chinese=

some gooseberries and a light, he found that no one wanted to emulate his=20
gooseberries but they did like his light.=20

Feeling miffed said Kiwi suggested to Ministry of Foreign Offerings and=20
Replications "My Dear Sir these lights just aren't cricket, have a=20
gooseberry!". Said Official of M of FO "that company belongs to our dear=20
leaders second cousins, great aunts, grandson - tough doobries!"

To which the Kiwi said "well us lot are keeping your gooseberries then, and=
=20
what's more, we going to call them something really original so you know=20
we're keeping them", and henceforth it was so, only British gooseberries=20
are gooseberries now all others are known as Actinidia chinensis.
