Yes you can eventually learn not to stub your toe on a nail sticking up fro=

the middle of the floor, but that doesn't change the fact that the nail
sticking up is a bad idea.  The problem with too many C programmers is that
they've taken the nail for granted and no longer realize the world could be
better.

There were other syntaxes already known at the time that dealt better with
likely human errors.
