I mentioned CETSemi because I am extremely pleased with the one product I use AND a local supplier has been promoting their wqares, even though I've not seen then advertised usually locally. Parametric search here http://www.cetsemi.com/index-e.htm A look for PFets around your spec turned up the CEM2163 in SO8. Ids 8.9A, Rdson 30 mohm at Vgs=3D2.5V and 20 mohm at Vgs =3D 4.5V. Alas data sheet not found but similar CEM2187 dual is there http://web2.cetsemi.com/PDF/SO-8-P/M2187.PDF And slightly inferior CES2331 in SOT23 http://web2.cetsemi.com/PDF/SOT-23/S2331.PDF looks excellent and is probably under 10 cents. mohm at Vgs =3D 48/60/78 at -1.8/2.5/4.5 V (max in each case, typical is ~7= 5%) Idsmaxcont -4.2A and peak -15A Most international suppliers are available in China (not surprisingly) with parts often being locally made. LRC (Leshan Radio Comp[any) makes a subset of OMSemi parts and is part owned by ON Semi and is usually well priced. I pay around 1 cent for top SOT23 jellybean transistors eg BC807 from top gain (beta) bin and amongst the top Ice rating of SOT23's before you go to zetex and similar. A Taiwanese transistor maker whose name escapes me but I could dig it out make 8050/8055 TO92 complementary pair with equally good SOT23 variant with 1+ amp ratings at high beta - very Zetex like but I haven't seen them here. I'd expect gung ho US supply houses to have access to most Asian parts. A Hong Kong supply house with good enough English skills and wide Asian access is mobicon. I think they are Taiwan HQ based but have branches in a range of Asian countries and in South Africa. Contacts http://www.mobicon.com/en/contact.php They list the usual impressive range of suppliers eg http://www.icmaster.com.hk/cgi-bin/index.asp And, though I've never bought from them in 1 offs, the HK branch advertise a wide range of parts at 1 off prices - often far from cheap but presumably equovalent to a local RS/Farnell service. eg AVR development kits http://www.icmaster.com.hk/cgi-bin/products_equip.asp?brand=3DATMEL&type= =3DDevelopment%20Tools&category=3DProgrammer%20and%20Development%20Tools&np= age=3D1 Divide by about 7 for conversion to $US. So STK100 at $HK650 or just under $US100 compared to $US74 from Digikey (according to Findchips - no stock or price according to Digikey). TYere are a range of Asian sourced specialty chips that are widely available in Asia but largely not elsewhere. eg boost converters with shut down, voltage feedback, FET drive, 1V startup and 1 2 3 NimH or wider operation - suited to eg cellphone charging, priced in 10c 20c range in modest volume. LiIon battery chargers/controllers, cell protection devices and more. A trick is to be sure that what you are getting is what you think it is and is from the same manufacturer. Reputable suppliers such as eg Mobicon mayn be somewhat OK at ensuring this but surprises can still happen. Knowing why you think what you think you know is useful :-).
