The answer may or may not be yes or no (or no or yes or zzzzz). But confirmation bias may well swamp a learning opportunity. There is certainly much anecdotal and other material that suggests that net sleeping hours reduction can be achieved. What if any effect this has long term is TBD - and looking into it can also be heavily affected by presuppositions (which may or may not be valid). FWIW, for me, taking VERY short naps (under 8 minutes eyes-shut to eyes-open) as required makes a substantial difference to my general state of mind / tiredness / ... . Certainly doesn't work for everyone.
