Sounds like they had already figured out that model had a design flaw, and this was the cheapest way to deal with it on their end. It makes sense. I= f they give you all your money back, you can't really complain. Giving refunds to anyone that bothers to ask is probably cheaper than all alternatives. The sticker and line cord trick provides physical proof so you can't sue them later if you continue to use it anyway. And they might as well tell you about putting a new line cord on it. If you don't you're going to buy another refrigerator, which will most likely be from one of their competitors. They're better off if you don't do that, but can't sue them, complain to them, or otherwise cost them any more money. Brilliant!
