At least the more moderate followers I knew (they think, for example, that the Crusades and the Inquisition were a mistake) generally seem to think that he'd not have said that someone disgusts him... I think when arguing something, it's generally a bad idea to bring in some "higher authority" that can't be cited nor asked. We then are forced to take someone's word for what the "higher authority" would say (which generally amounts to accepting that someone as "higher authority") or to completely disregard that someone. I think you wouldn't want either, so maybe you consider these choices you leave us with next time you feel the need to invoke a "higher authority" to help you argue a point.
