That indeed would be bad. However the data sheet I looked at covers a
whole range of parts, seems to depend on exactly where you look... (keep
reading till you find the specs you prefer?!)  eg:

4. Others
Conformal coating of the component IS acceptable.
However, the resin material, curing temperature, and
other process conditions should be evaluated to
confirm that stable electrical characteristics are
maintained.

The assumption I made was that the CSTCE8M00G55Z is a CSTCE_G series
device so has the above specs. I could the be wrong. The low number of
boards (20) I've made so far with the parts have been washed and then
conformal coated without any problems.
