One major, but potential, spanner-in-the-works is the state of
the US infrastructure

China is modernising. They are building now, with modern
methods and technology. American infrastructure built in the 1970s
or before is decaying. The estimate is at least 2.2 trillion dollars
to get dams, roads, bridges, power grids, levees and water systems
to even an acceptable standard. As the 'bricks and mortar'
approaches its design lifetime, the opinion of some is that in the
next 5-10 years there will be a tipping point, when those huge
amounts of money, from businesses, ratepayers and taxpayers,
will be really necessary

The film "The Crumbling Of America" is well worth a look, as
is the book Edge Of Disaster (Stephen E Flynn)
