Ok, thanks for the advice everyone. I'm going to be using a Bluetooth module that may require some initial setup via serial port. Rather than also build an RS232->3.3V converter, I was hoping the UART tool would suffice. Since this is just for my prototype, I'll likely be typing settings in by hand. Eventually I'll probably make a custom firmware for my PIC that configures the module. Sounds like the UART tool should work for me, so I'm happy!
