Are you aware of the newer PSoC offerings from Cypress? PSoC3 offers a
high-performance 8051 core, and PSoC5 offers an ARM Cortex M-3. They have
more flexibility than previous generations, and you can now program the
logic array using regular HDLs. I don't know what the price is, though.
