To make OSc functional, you had to use add-ons (CC processing, shipping,=20
etc). A typical add-on had instructions that told you where to insert the=20
code and which lines in the mainline code to modify. Real messy.

Mind you, this was a long time ago and I haven't looked at OSc since.
