We've had many discussions (arguments) about this before!  The compiler
output without any optimisations is certainly very bloated, but I do not
believe this is a deliberate ploy, it's simply down to the way the
compiler generates code.  If I switch off all optimisations on my
licenced version of PICC it produces similarly poor code.
