Looks like a modern version of the Polar Electronics (also branded as=20 BK Precision) and Huntron Tracker component signature testers. I've got an older Polar Electronics / BK Precision unit (built-in 3"=20 CRT) that I purchased because it had the ability to match transistors=20 - it has a 2-channel curve tracer built in (suitable for use with=20 bipolar transistors and J-FETs). It works well but I rarely use it for finding defective components on=20 PC boards - I find that standard trouble-shooting techniques (scope,=20 etc) work better for me. But I have friends who use Huntron Trackers=20 and they swear by them - they say that they are MUCH quicker at=20 finding and fixing faults in consumer gear when using that device. For me, the 2-channel transistor curve tracer in my Polar Electronics=20 unit has paid for itself many times over - I've been able to do some=20 pretty interesting projects that relied heavily on matched transistors. dwayne --=20 Dwayne Reid Trinity Electronics Systems Ltd Edmonton, AB, CANADA (780) 489-3199 voice (780) 487-6397 fax www.trinity-electronics.com Custom Electronics Design and Manufacturing --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
