However, you can't just put two diodes in parallel and add their current ratings. This is because they won't share the current equally. The forward voltage drop goes down with temperature. That means one of the diodes will take a bit more of the current, which will make it warmer, which will make it take even more of th= e current, which makes it even warmer...
