I've not had a problem with hyperterminal and its CR LF, but I never=20 contemplated using it for Code. (since at least 1996 and NT4.0, I'm not=20 sure if it was in NT3.5 or if we used it.) Under settings there is an option to "Send Line ends with line feeds"=20 and "Append Line feeds to incoming line ends" and to Echo local and Wrap=20 screen. You can also "force 7 bit" on receive. By default it's on "automatic" for terminal emulation, TTY may be better=20 if you don't want unexpected behaviour. I never found the VT100 or VT52=20 etc very good. Years ago I think we installed teraterm for DEC terminal=20 emulation for UNIX server applications (Insurance Quotes and Call=20 Centres). There are various other settings for the unwary to fiddle with. On test with terminals on embedded Linux devices and testing with other=20 SW it doesn't do anything unexpected. I can only conclude the original author was using some strange version=20 of Hyperterminal apart from fact you shouldn't use a text terminal to=20 upload code. --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
