Hey all, I have an RC car that uses a 4.2 V battery pack (it's just 4 x 1.2 V NiMH cells stuck together). I want to use 18650 (a little larger than AA) or 14500 (AA sized) type Li-ion cells. They produce 3.7 V each, so I'll be getting a much longer run time. However, since the motor needs around 4.2 - 5 V, I need a way to boost the voltage. What are some possible ways to do this? I havn't measured, but I would guess that the motor doesn't use more than 10 A. Would a DC - DC switching power supply be a good idea? It should be relatively small (about the size of two AA batteries). --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
