I was going to let this slip by but find that I just can't. I think that this article teaches several important things and I=20 applaud the author for sharing his mistakes - it well may help others=20 avoid similar problems. 1) He is obviously an old hand at this - he mentions having worked=20 with his software developer for 20 years. Yet he took a shortcut=20 that wound up biting him on his rear. In fact, he says that he was so focused that he neglected to do the=20 simple checks first. He readily admits that WAS a mistake. 2) He was developing something for the Armed Forces. I strongly=20 suspect that he is anything but a moron. As far as I know, you have=20 to prove yourself pretty thoroughly before you get selected to work=20 on projects such as the one that the author mentioned. 3) I, for one, had NO idea that Hyperterminal would mangle 0D0A=20 pairs. This IS useful information, contrary to what Olin Lathrop thinks. Olin - again you are acting like a twit. There was simply no need to=20 use words like "idiot" and "moron" when discussing the author of this=20 article. He made a mistake, 'fessed up to it, and explained what he=20 did wrong. This IS a useful story. dwayne --=20 Dwayne Reid Trinity Electronics Systems Ltd Edmonton, AB, CANADA (780) 489-3199 voice (780) 487-6397 fax www.trinity-electronics.com Custom Electronics Design and Manufacturing --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
