You do, but the impedence required of a A/D signal has a upper limit, not a
lower limit.  Therefore it makes no sense that the 2K version didn't work
when the 47K version did.  This indicates that the 2K version probably ran
into other problems, like too much current being drawn somewhere causing a
voltage droop.
