GST is waived on goods under $500 gross value (maybe $450) including postage etc. I think they may actually claim GST at 0% for accounting purposes. Your DVD should be well under that limit. I think this exemption is a discretionary one to make their job easier - if they did charge yoiu'd probably have no right of redress, but it wont happen. I say $450 or $500 as it may be that it's $50 GST content which is $450, rather than $500 where GST =3D $55.56. GST is about to go up from 12.5% to 15% - makes no difference to you but they may have to change their rules . What may well happen though is that "they" will stick a label on the outside that says "ID recorded." This means that they have noted that you are importing material which MIGHT contain pornography, but they are too lazy/busy to check, but be aware that they are watching you.
