The STM32 discovery board has a 128k Flash/ 8k RAM "value" range device (ma=
x speed 24MHz) and also an on board ST-Link debugger with USB interface for=
 programming/debugging.  The board has no real peripherals apart from a cou=
ple of LED's and push buttons, but has all the ports taken to 0.1" pitch pi=
ns that will plug into a breadboard or stripboard etc.

The best bit is the price, less than $10, or for those in the UK a bit unde=
r =A38 by the time VAT is added.  I have just received four of these from F=
arnell (several people in the office wanted one to play with) and they came=
 to almost exactly =A38 each with postage.  A very neat bit of kit if you f=
ancy moving up to something with a bit of horsepower.

For those used to Microchips datasheets, the bulk of the information you wi=
ll need for programming for the ST is in the reference manual which covers =
a wide range of parts (this is the document you will need for learning abou=
t the peripherals), and the datasheet holds pin outs and electrical/timing =
data for individual devices.
