My PCB fab/assembly order was just delayed for the Mid-Autumn holiday, so I= have a day or two to reconsider my USB A solution. Currently, I have a through-hole metal USB A connector on the PCB design. = It was not part of the PCB assembly as I planned on soldering it myself (20= 0 pieces) and since it wasn't part of assembly, v-scored array boards didn'= t have to account for USB connector size. But as I look for potential encl= osure options, I'm rethinking the connector. Does anyone have experience with the USB A fingers being part of the PCB? = What did you use for a housing? If I keep the metal, soldered-on connector, what are potential housing supp= liers? General specs of the project: can fit on a very small PCB (currently 16mm = x 16mm with 0603 passives, could be smaller). PIC18F14K50 based. Current = height above board in the order of 2mm. Ideally, will look no different fr= om any normal USB thumb drive.
