Wasn't this exactly the type of interface for which what the peripheral
serial port was designed? 8 Bits and hand shaking and running aysnchronousl=
y
to the main CPU. I am not an expert on parallel port interfacing (it's a
pretty old i/f nowadays), but worth checkin the PSP spec on most 16/18 40
pin devices.
