The owners many times, to save costs, do not want to pay the structural=20
engineer for site visits to inspect the construction. These site visits=20
serve several purposes: 1: To ensure the construction is per the design=20
and materials and workmanship are as expected. 2: As a visual check of=20
the design. 3: Confirm that other conditions i.e. usage, loadings,=20
equipment, etc. are as were presented as design criteria at the=20
beginning. Typically the government (building inspectors) do not have=20
all the expertice, nor available time to do a through inspection.
