In another far off lifetime I worked for Telecom NZ.
We went to inordinate lengths to secure equipment racks against likely
earthquake effects. "Properly" designed bracing which visually
appeared rather OTT - and probably wasn't. It would be interesting to
see how such equipment (now older) fared in the quake.
