As above, a magnitude 6 is a notable event, and can certainly do further damage to already weakened structures, but if you are in an undamaged house and the chimney is properly built (or absent) and the book cases are properly secured (unlike at the university :-( ) and nothing super flammable is unwisely exposed to risk, then you would probably ride it out as an "interesting" experience. As an untrained layman's comment: The more aftershocks you get the more likely it will settle down happily long term. It's rubbing all the sticky bits off the edges. One very big shock and then nothing much may make you wonder what's happening.
