I'm trying to make sense of some Texas Inst RFID readers, type S251B, hooke=
d=20
up to my PC and using their S2_Util.exe software.

The readers can be used with either an ASCII protocol or TIRIS Bus protocol=
..

The ASCII protocol works fine and was easy to hook up and communicate with=
=20
the readers and read tags etc

The problem I have is that I need to get the TIRIS Bus protocol working so=
=20
that I can use RS485 (instructions say that RS485 can not be used with=20
ASCII).

I have been studying the various manuals and experimenting with the hardwar=
e=20
for ages, but still not having any success.

Going through the 'Configuration Mode', I can get the tags to affect the=20
reader (a small panel flashes green etc), but not show any actual numbers=20
....  but when I start them up in the 'TBP Mode' I get nothing at all.

Does anyone on the list have any experience with these devices and be able=
=20
to help me understand the differences between the two systems please?
