The aluminium rots. Don't use Gold Connectors against tin plated. Any damp and the Gold will=20 rot the Tin. Gold only to Gold is the safe way. Also Gold plated tracks can be poorer for RF. Part of the reason can be=20 the barrier layer of plating has magnetic properties and also gold has=20 higher resistance than silver or lacquered polished copper (tinning=20 copper makes it poorer at RF). Silver oxide on a silver plated aerial allegedly has superior properties=20 to rust or gold plate. Something to do with Silver oxide's magnetic and=20 conductive properties? Anyone any more insight on that? Anodize or weather/oxidise freshly cut / polished aluminium in=20 controlled fashion before painting or mounting outdoor or it can flake=20 and pit badly and have much worse RF properties for an aerial? --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
