Okay, Nuke, Coal, Hydro, Stirling, PV and ....... have been discussed. What is going to be the best source of power for local use and =20 maintenance ? A power source that a household or neighborhood could depend on and =20 maintain without an unreasonable effort ? I am going to assume that =20 the users have gone to 100% electricity usage. No propane or natural =20 gas or fuel oil. My research suggested a US home might use 1 MWh of electricity annually. So a neighborhood might use 20-100MWh annually. Assuming perfection*, that means a power source would have to produce =20 24/7 between 1M/8760 =3D=3D> 114 watts to 100M/8760 =3D=3D> 11,400 watts. Some facts that may be interesting: http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/reps/enduse/er01_us.html * no losses, unused power is saved for peak load.
