I like to use an HP PDF that I found for looking at the C definitions
and example code. There may be obscure differences to what the microchip
compilers do, but I haven't found any yet.

A 1.5MB download that makes a useful reference manual when a query comes
up about how a function should be used.

Also Google 'Essential C' and get the PDF from the Stanford site.
